Ghassan J. Shamieh is an immigration attorney and partner at the Law Offices of Shamieh, Shamieh & Ternieden. His passion for immigration law stems from the fact that he is the son of immigrants, which gives him a unique appreciation for the complex world of immigration law. Attorney Shamieh understands that navigating the legal web of immigration can be challenging and therefore exhibits an approach that is client centric—ensuring that all clients understand the developments of their case. Attorney Ghassan Shamieh believes this to be important because he wants the clients to be active participants, aware of the facts, and informed as to the outcomes of their case rather than simply observing from the sidelines. Attorney Ghassan Shamieh also has experience in handling family law matters, civil litigation, and business escrows.
Attorney Ghassan Shamieh began his legal career while in law school, pursuing an internship with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. Attorney Ghassan Shamieh also served as a summer associate with Goodwin Procter (in Silicon Valley). Lastly, he was member of the Northwestern Law Center for Wrongful Convictions where he advocated for the release of a wrongly incarcerated person from a Chicago prison, making court appearances and filing motions with the court. While at the University Of San Francisco, Attorney Ghassan Shamieh studied abroad in Johannesburg and spent six months working with a legal organization whose sole focus was to provide common legal services to underprivileged communities free of charge.
Being born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Attorney Ghassan Shamieh has developed an appreciation for diversity and what different cultures and people from different backgrounds can contribute to the society. Rather than pursuing a career focused on corporate law, Attorney Ghassan Shamieh wanted to practice in an area where he can combine his passion for aiding the disenfranchised with his appreciation for the opportunities immigration laws offer.
